Jim Price wanted to be a teacher right from the start. He worked at a mill to help put himself through school at Douglas Collage and SFU. He started his career at Boss Mountain at Hendrix Lake, BC east of 100 Mile House. Boss Mountain Elementary Junior Secondary was near the mine site where he started teaching kids from kindergarten to grade 10 for two years. Jim then moved on to teach at 100 Mile House Elementary School where he was a grade 4 through 7 teacher for 37 years.
Jim’s retirement party was on Friday June 14th at the seniors park on Horse Lake road. Many fellow teachers, friends and family were there to celebrate his many years of incredible service to the community and to educating the youth in 100 Mile House area. Teachers and friends wrote a song and performed it for him to show their love and appreciation for the years of dedication to teaching in SD #27.
“I’ve always loved teaching and looked forward to going to work everyday and I will miss it, Price said. Now I look forward to some travelling and spending time with my family.”
