Local girls Katharina Wetzig, Tayler Kelsey, and Vanessa Shearer attended the Mountain Gems Competition in Revelstoke, Nov 3, 2018. Katharina and Tayler competed in the Ruby Skills Division. Both coached by LaVerne Howard. Katharina and Tayler both received Gold for their Elements. They were judged by three retired coaches.

Danyelle Howard President of the 100 Mile FSC said.
“We are very proud of both girls for their achievements and look forward to their next competition in January.”

Vanessa, competed in the Sapphire Individual event, also coached by LaVerne Howard. They’re judged on Technique, Power, Execution, Carriage and Projection of their elements and how well they put them together with artistry and music.

Vanessa was given gold by one judge and two silvers by the two other judges, giving her an all-around silver. Pretty good considering there was a malfunction with the sound system and Vanessa performed her solo without music. Shearer will be attending another competition in Quesnel in the new year. She will also be attending test day in Williams Lake to perform her Intro Interpretive; she’ll be judged by our local Judge Joanne Garrow.

“I am very proud of how our girls presented themselves and they were amazing ambassadors for not only the sport of figure skating, but our club as well.”
