On the night of October 31st, Halloween, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to 14 calls for service. There were no major nuisance events reported and RCMP patrolled throughout the evening, giving away candy and chips to unsuspecting goblins, super heroes and other fantastic creatures. Members working that evening enjoyed the interaction with the local kids and adults during the evening and we appreciate your comments regarding our engagement along the various streets of our communities. On November 2nd 2019 at 6:09 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP attended to the local Save On in 100 Mile House BC for a reported disturbance and theft in progress. The Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) had apprehended a 21 year old female who continued to struggle with the LPO and also swearing and yelling. The suspect, who was known to Police, was arrested by the attending officers. During the arrest, the suspect attempted to strike the officer with her elbow, but missed. She was then safely placed in handcuffs. The female was released from Police custody the next morning and is due to appear for court in 100 Mile House BC on charges of theft, cause disturbance and assaulting a Peace Officer. The investigation is ongoing.
On November 2nd 2019 at 8:32 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP attended to an address in Bridge Lake BC for a suspicious occurrence. The complainant reports her family dog had come back to their residence with a fresh heart in its mouth. All neighborhood checks were negative for recent hunting actions, so they called into Police. Local BC Conservation Officers attended with RCMP and upon further inspection it was determined to be from a deer. The investigation is concluded.
On November 3rd at 11:14 AM, an elderly male was reported missing from his residence in the 108 Mile Ranch area, having been late coming back from his usual morning walk and family search attempts coming up negative during the early morning. 100 Mile House RCMP responded as did South Cariboo Search and Rescue to assist in a possible search. During the initial investigation, the man was located and safely returned back to his residence. The investigation has been concluded.
On November 3rd 2019 at 11:20 AM, a male was seen leaving his vehicle and urinating in the parking lot of the 100 Mile RCMP Detachment in full view of Highway 97 and Alder Avenue travellers. The 56 year old Caucasian male had been waiting in a vehicle at the detachment for someone to be released from police custody and was angry and upset that it was not happening immediately. The male was arrested for mischief and indecent act, then lodged in cells to complete the investigation where he became violent with the attending members during the booking in procedure. He was safely lodged in cells and no one was injured during the event. On November 5th 2019 at 3:54 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a suspicious vehicle at the Inter-lakes Market in Sheridan Lake BC. The complainant reported an elderly female driving up to that location with no rubber tire on the front of the vehicle. Members attended and determined the female was driving impaired after an ASD demand. A 90 IRP was issued to the female and her vehicle towed. The investigation is concluded.
On November 5th 2019 at 8:41 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a suspicious person dressed as a clown along Lily Pad Lake Road in the 108 Mile Ranch area. The Clown was wearing a suit with polka dots and red fluffy cotton balls attached to it. The witness reportedly stopped and asked the person if they were okay, but the Clown did not respond. The complainant, naturally disturbed by the incident, then left the area and called Police. Other area neighbors heard about the incident and were out patrolling as well, but no one else came into contact with the person in the clown suit. RCMP report that the clown had no red balloons and did not talk about how we all float down here…..the investigation is concluded – hopefully. While we do admire the commitment of this particular Clown, 100 Mile House RCMP notes that Halloween is over, folks.
