On February 17th 2021 at 2:12 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at the 100 Mile House Airport in one of the hangers on site. In the past two weeks, an unknown suspect had entered the hanger by going through a rear window and taking some items. A search of the location revealed no surfaces which were viable for fingerprinting. The investigation is ongoing.
On February 17th 2021 at 6:42 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP attended to a report of a snowmobile falling out of the back of a truck along Canim-Hendrix Lake Road near Forest Grove BC. The complainant reports driving behind a black truck when a blue snowmobile fell out of the back of the truck bed, narrowly missing her vehicle. The driver of the truck apparently did not notice and kept driving. After a few minutes, the driver of the black truck returned, so the complainant called Police again. Officers arrived on scene and located a local man who had trouble standing and other signs of alcohol impairment. An Approved Screening Device demand was made and the sample obtained registered as a “Fail” on the device. The male was subsequently arrested for impaired driving and offered a second test with another ASD, which the result also was a “Fail” reading by the device. His driver licence was seized under Immediate Roadside Prohibition legislation and the vehicle impounded for 30 days. The driver was transported to his residence for safety and admitted to drinking after fishing that day, but did not believe it impaired his driving. The investigation is concluded.
On February 19th 2021 at 08:47 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP attended to a report of a stolen youth motor bike in the 3700 block of Highway 97 near Lac La Hache BC. The complainant reports the bike as a 2005 black framed Yamaha 90 cc bike with #17 stickers and an off ground kick start. There was also a “Fox” decal on the front fender. There were no suspects or witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
On February 21st 2021 at 06:35 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP were contacted regarding a mischief to trailers and theft in the 100 block of Horse Lake Road in 100 Mile House BC. The complainant reports video surveillance alerted him to movement in the yard at around 03:50 AM. An officer attended and located two trailers entered with a sub woofer removed from one trailer and CD deck taken from the other. There are no suspects or witnesses as the initial video only caught a shoulder of one person wearing a backpack. The investigation has been concluded pending further information being developed.
On February 21st 2021 at 2:39 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP attended to a reported disturbance in the 4000 block of Donsleequa Road in 108 Mile Ranch BC. The complainant reported a family assault, where a male had struck another family member in the face twice and may have grabbed a knife. Another witness on scene used a small shovel to stop the man from assaulting the woman, and the suspect then fled to a neighbour’s residence, breaking a window in the process. Police attended and apprehended the suspect under the Mental Health Act of BC due to the irrational and self-harm behaviour displayed, but also arrested him for mischief due to the broken windows. The family initially refused to provide any statements or information beyond basic details about the circumstances of the event. The man was taken to hospital, where he was quickly cleared by the physician for the continuing investigation. The next day, 100 Mile House RCMP spoke again to the family and, working with victim services and other support services, the family provided statements to Police and the 36 year old local man was subsequently arrested for assault causing bodily harm. Due to continuing mental health concerns and other factors, 100 Mile House RCMP continued to liaise with 100 Mile Hospital and were able to have the male suspect re-evaluated by a physician, who thereafter supported further mental health evaluation under hospital care. It is important to note that 100 Mile House RCMP do not typically release information on these types of events. They are extremely personal circumstances for those involved and we normally wish to respect that privacy in its totality. In this case and these times, we felt it was important to demonstrate how local RCMP use their local knowledge and work with our local partners – including 100 Mile Hospital, Canadian Mental Health Association, Crown Counsel, and Victim Services – to ensure the safety of all of those involved in an event. The investigation is ongoing.
