The concept plan for the expansion of the South Cariboo Rec Centre is moving forward and would be a great addition and asset to the South Cariboo area.
CRD Chair Margo Wagner, Councillor Ralph Fossum and HCMA the architectural firm have been working on the expansion of the South Cariboo Rec Centre that will feature a turf soccer field and a basketball court sized hard surface area as well a second level walking track. The expansion will be approximately 52,000 square feet.
The new expansion would mean the demolition of the old Stan Halcro Arena. The team working on the expansion will now be working on the total cost of the project.
This new year-round facility would help bring more families into the South Cariboo area and is affordable in comparison to an indoor swimming pool which would be far too expensive to build and maintain for the 100 Mile House and South Cariboo tax payers. Maybe an outdoor pool is in the future for 100 Mile House?
