17-year-old Jordyn Karl a grade 11 distant learning student in 100 Mile House is off to the rodeo, the “World’s Largest High School Rodeo” in Rock Springs, Wyoming to compete with 1,650 other contestants.

 

The high school rodeo kids come from all over the United States, five Canadian provinces, Australia and Mexico to compete for the top spot in the Cinch National High School Rodeo Finals.

 

Karl has been riding horses since she was old enough to sit on a horse. “Horses have always been in my family and I’ve always loved horses.” Karl said. The 100 Mile Little Britches Rodeo was what got me hooked on rodeo and I started competing when I was 3 with lead line.”

 

Participants are picked by the four top competitors in each event in each province, state, Mexico and Australia. There’s $150,000 up for grabs in prize money and $375,000 in collage scholarships plus, a chance to be named NHSFR World Champion!

 

Jordyn got in the top 4 competitors in the province for Pole Bending and Reined Cow Horse and she’s heading off to Rock Springs, Wyo for the 71st NHSFR Finals that’s happening from July 14th – 20th.
