Many Remembrance Day Ceremonies were held across Canada today to honour those who fought and lost their lives so that we could be free. We were thankful that we could attend our community Remembrance Day Ceremony held at the McKinley Pioneer Cemetery in Lac La Hache BC.

Gale and Percy Ogden , long time residents organized this year’s gathering. Akira Logan led the ceremony with O Canada and Pastor Mark Carter from the Presbyterian Church on Timothy Lake Road led in the Dunkirk story and Prayer.

Henk de Ruiter & his daughter Anna read the poem In Flanders Field in English and Dutch. Elizabeth Pete (nee Dixon) from Canim Lake told of the military stories of some of her First Nations relatives that fought in the War.

There are many War Veterans that are laid to rest in the McKinley Pioneer Cemetery, that fought and returned home to Lac La Hache. There were approximately 80 people in attendance along with the Lac La Hache VDF Firefighters.

Thank you Gale and Percy Ogden for organizing the ceremony. Much appreciated.
