The City of Williams Lake has cancelled the semi-annual Event Hosting Grants application intake in May, following the directive of the Provincial Health Officer to restrict public events during the COVID-19 pandemic. Event Hosting Grants provide stimulus and seed money to help local organizations host, develop, market, and administer new events in the City. However, current restrictions on public events throughout the province mean there are limited opportunities to host events.

“We want to make sure we provide local organizations with the best support during this time of COVID-19,” said Ian James, Director of Community Services. “It wouldn’t be right to ask organizations to put in significant effort to complete the application, and then have to cancel the funding after the fact if the situation does not change across B.C.”
The City is still planning to accept applications for the November semi-annual intake, although this may change depending on the situation later this year.
