2021-176, plus – On January 14th at 06:49 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP were notified of mischief / theft from mailboxes along Telqua Drive in 108 Mile Ranch BC. The complainant reported that several mailboxes had been entered by an unknown person(s). It was unknown what was missing. Canada Post was advised. It appeared the theft had occurred recently as no attempt was made by anyone to clean up the location or the approximately seven packages which were abandoned at the location. There was no surveillance available. Local RCMP attended to several of these reports in various areas over the course of the week. Surveillance equipment has been or will be set up at various locations in the local area as a result. Later in the week, more incidents were reported along Canim Hendrix Road toward Forest Grove BC. Canada Post has made changes to their operations until the boxes are fixed. The investigation is ongoing.
2021-192 – On January 15th 2021 at 6:39 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a theft of fuel in the 6000 block of Garrett Road in Lone Butte BC. The locks and fencing established were cut and unknown suspect(s) entered the compound overnight and siphoned off approximately 1000 litres of fuel. There was no evidence located at scene. The complainant was advised to implement a number of security protections, such as: delay refueling the machines until the next day if possible, ensure the security of any tidy tanks, set up a wifi trail camera or security system that will send photos directly to the complainant as the event occurs so as to notify Police immediately. The investigation is concluded pending further information coming forward.
2021-194 – On January 16th 2021 at 11:23 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to a complaint of a demonstration being held along Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House BC, protesting ongoing Public Health Orders. The initial complaint received was from a local business owner in the 100 block of Birch Avenue advising that the protesters had entered their store and caused a small disturbance, but left quickly. Members located the six people marching along the sidewalk. No one was wearing masks or socially distancing. Members advised the group to disperse and to adhere to provincial guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid 19. After a very short discussion, which included several bigoted comments toward the attending officers, all disbanded and left the location. The investigation is concluded.
2021-205 – On January 17th 2021 at 11:45 AM, 100 Mile House RCMP received a complaint of a possible Emergency Program Act violation(s) at a church in the 5400 block of Tatton Station Road in 100 Mile House BC. An officer attended about an hour later due to other files taking priority and located a number of vehicles still in the parking area. The officer observed several persons leaving the church with no face coverings in place. Observations were recorded on the file, including vehicle plate and registered owner information. No action was taken at that time. The recent changes with the pandemic enforcement brought forward by the Public Health Orders allow RCMP to compel alleged violators of the Emergency Program Act to court by way of an Offence Act Promise to Appear. The investigation is ongoing.
