On Monday, December 28, 2020 at 12:50 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP received a complaint in relation to a violation of the Covid-19 Related Measures Act (CRMA) at the Mount Timothy Ski Resort near 100 Mile House BC.
It was reported that a 37 year old woman, known to the resort staff, had attended the ski hill for recreational purposes and entered the ski lodge without wearing a mask contrary to the business’s policy related to the ongoing Pubic Health Orders in British Columbia. The ski resort had clear signs advising customers that masks were mandatory inside all their buildings.
These policies are consistent with those provided by the Public Health Order (PHO). The woman had allegedly became confrontational with the staff, causing a disturbance at the resort. While she produced a medical exemption card, it appeared to lack information to assure its validity.

The staff asked the woman to leave and to not return unless wearing a mask as per the current PHO regulations. The woman eventually complied with the resorts request and left the location. 100 Mile House RCMP were notified of the matter after the woman had left. The RCMP did not attend the ski hill. RCMP spoke with the resort via phone and was provided with more details. Based on information supplied by witnesses and evidence obtained, it was determined that a violation ticket would be issued.
On Wednesday, December 30, 2021, after making prior arrangements with the woman to attend a location in 100 Mile House, police served the violation ticket to the woman.
The woman is alleged to have committed two offences under the CRMA via Emergency Program Act:
• Count 1 – Failure to wear face covering in indoor public space (Section 3(1) of the Emergency Program Act (EPA) – $230.00)
• Count 2 – Fail to comply with direction from an enforcement officer (Section 6 of the Emergence Program Act (EPA) – $230.00
There will be no further information released on this matter as a violation ticket has been issued.
