Fatal ATV incident along Tatton Station Road-100 Mile House RCMP

On May 14^th 2021 at 2:20 PM, 100 Mile House RCMP along with BC Ambulance Service and 100 Mile House Fire Rescue responded to a report of a serious ATV accident scene along Tatton Station Road at approximately the 17 km mark off another marked Forest Service Road. Initial information was a 14 year old local male had a serious ATV collision event involving just himself while travelling along a trail on Crown land. The boy had been quading with a group of his peers at the time of the incident. Other people in the general area came to assist the witnesses with the injured boy and contacted 911 over a CB radio, causing all emergency vehicles to head toward the location.

100 Mile Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance met a vehicle transporting the youth to hospital along Tatton Station Road, where a quick transfer took place and the youth was taken to hospital. Efforts were made to revive the male at the hospital, but these efforts were not successful. 100 Mile House RCMP and Victim Services remained at the hospital assisting the family at the beginning of their grieving process, along with hospital staff, for an extended time as other family and friends arrived at the location.

100 Mile House RCMP along with Northern Highway Patrol – 100 Mile House and a North District Provincial Support team member have just cleared the location where the incident occurred after completing the initial investigation. The ATV was seized for further mechanical inspection as per usual practice in these matters. 100 Mile House RCMP is now assisting the BC Coroner Service as required. 100 Mile House RCMP has also been in contact with Peter Skene Ogden Secondary in order for them to support students and friends of the youth at the school moving forward.
