Williams Lake RCMP and the North District Major Crime Unit, working with the BC Coroners Service, have confirmed the identity of the body found in the Fraser River on Tuesday August 27 2019.

The identity has been confirmed as Branton Regner. Regner was reported missing following an incident on the Rudy Johnson Bridge on Friday August 9 2019.

On Wednesday September 18, 2019 the BC Prosecution Services charged Jayson Gilbert and Michael Drynock with the first degree murder of Branton Regner. Gilbert and Drynock continue to face one charge each of attempt murder and kidnapping.

“The rapid progress of the arrests and multiple charges involving these two accused are a direct result of the collaborative investigative effort between Williams Lake RCMP and the North District Major Crime. These investigations are ongoing and continue to be a priority within our community.” Said Insp Jeff Pelley, OIC Williams Lake Detachment
