I am announcing today my intention to seek the nomination as the Candidate for the Federal New Democratic Party in the riding of Kamloops Thompson Cariboo.
I believe, as I believe many Canadians do, that it is time for change.
Canadians need to be served by a Government that puts Canadians and Canadian interests first. And I would welcome the opportunity to represent the riding of Kamloops Thompson Cariboo as a member of the only Party I believe to be dedicated to serving, with integrity, the interests of all Canadians.
My first passion has always been helping others in my community. There are many that need to be heard to truly prosper. I see every day the need for the average citizen to be acknowledged. I see a need for advocacy. I see a need for transparency and honesty from all levels of our Federal Government. And I’d be honoured to be a part of the change that would fill those needs.
No old rhetoric, no empty election year promises and no scandals to pollute Canada’s position on the world stage. But a new team with a principled and genuinely caring leader. Jagmeet Singh and the New Democratic Party of Canada are poised to become the change this amazing and strong country has needed for so long.
I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work for the people of the riding of Kamloops Thompson Cariboo as their representative, dedicated to truly listening to and serving the constituents.
A bit about myself:
– I have lived in the riding of Kamloops Thompson Cariboo, on a ranch just outside of 100 Mile House BC for about 10 years, having moved here from a working farm in Maple Ridge BC
– I have always volunteered in my community, serving on various boards, helping with Therapeutic Riding Associations, working with community theatre groups, volunteering to teach art and helping with literacy at a recovery and rehabilitation facility, helping with community festival planning (organizing a Lawnmower race last summer, and no, my little Orange mower didn’t win) and pitching in elsewhere as needed.
– I have worked as a Women’s Centre Safe House Coordinator (supporting the victims of domestic violence and their families) and a Community Support Worker (supporting individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities) practicing advocacy and inclusion in both capacities.
– I created a Facebook group, Cariboo Neighbours 911, that grew to over 5500 members during the wildfires of 2017, when so little information was forthcoming regarding the fires and help available, we had information added by members as things happened. I believe that there is always a need to inform, and do so with valid and timely information.
– I believe in the inclusion of everyone in their communities.
– I have a strong connection to the land and see our natural resources as worth protecting for all Canadians. Tourism and resource extraction can and should balance with preservation.
– I see the genuine need to create not just “jobs” but industries that can support families and communities. New, green technologies can create sustainable and real growth while protecting our natural heritage.
– I fiercely believe that it is time to turn community activism into true service to the people of the riding of Kamloops Thompson Cariboo.
