School District 27 in partnership with many industry and community partners will be hosting two Heavy Metal Rocks programs. Heavy Metal Rocks is a program that introduces students in grades 11 and 12 to a variety of jobs available in the logging, mining and construction industries. Students learn to operate different types of heavy machinery through hands-on experience and is intended
for students who have an interest in equipment operation.
These programs offer hands on experience in a controlled environment. Students will learn to operate equipment with one-on-one instruction from industry experts, gain experience with potential
future employers, learn how to do a pre-operation safety assessment on machines as well as learn the importance of being a safe, competent, skilled operator. This exciting and successful project is now in its 9th year in Williams Lake.
The first of the two programs is in Williams Lake – Centennial gravel pit from May 8th – 11th, 2019 at 11:00 am and the second one is in 100 Mile House – 61 mile gravel pit, highway 97 across from the Chasm turnoff from May 23rd – 24th, 2019 at 11:00 am
