Jim and Sue Carlson of Hanceville, BC. (Sitting) in this photo, lost their home in the 2017 Wildfires.

With the help of many friends and family they were able to rebuild. The local community also came together to help fund-raise and donated needed items to help get the Carlson’s home rebuilt. Donna Barnett said “The community support is amazing! It was my pleasure to meet them and to see the wonderful work they have done in the Cariboo Chilcotin.”

The main assistance came from the Mennonite Disaster Services also in the picture standing with MLA Donna Barnett. The Mennonite Disaster Service is made up of great volunteers from across Canada and the U.S.A. They donated their time to help build this beautiful home.

The Mennonite Disaster Services volunteers have completed one home and working on another one on Highway 20. They will also be working on 2 homes in the Spokin Lake area.
