Man arrested after an unsecured firearm, other weapons and drugs were found in vehicle

On January 9th 2019, a Cariboo Central Traffic member attempted to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle infraction. The vehicle was heading southbound on Highway 97 near the north entrance to the 103 Mile area. The vehicle was being driven erratically and stopped twice for Police. The driver then attempted to make an illegal u-turn on the hill near the start of the double lanes with traffic oncoming northbound. The vehicle made contact with the patrol vehicle and was stopped near that location. 100 Mile House RCMP attended the scene to assist. The male driver, who is known to Police, was arrested. A search of the vehicle located an unsecured firearm and other weapons as well as drugs. The male is currently in custody and will appear in Williams Lake Provincial Court sometime tomorrow.
