Man who bear sprayed off duty police officers has been apprehended

On August 25th at approximately 1:45 pm, Quesnel RCMP officers located and arrested Aaron Stone SMART, 23, the man alleged to have assaulted two off duty police officers with bear spray, after committing a Robbery from a local business on August 24th, 2018.
Charges of Robbery and Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon have been recommended from the August 24th incident. SMART was also arrested on several other outstanding warrants.
Staff Sergeant Andrew BURTON, Detachment Commander, credits the quick arrest to the dedication of the investigating officers from the Quesnel RCMP. Our off duty officers reacted quickly and selflessly in their attempt to stop the robbery as it occurred, but were hampered by the violence of the suspect. Their on duty colleagues were quick to follow up with the investigation and make the arrest.
SMART is in custody pending his next court appearance August 28, 2018 in Quesnel Provincial Court.
