The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development will be burning 150 piles of woody debris and log decks at multiple sites within the perimeters of the Big Stick Lake wildfire (C51290), Hotnarko Creek wildfire (C51355), Anahim Peak wildfire (C51606) and the Eliguk Lake wildfire (C52323) to help reduce fuel hazards created from the construction of control lines during fire suppression activities. All efforts will be made to utilize merchantable fibre to reduce emissions where feasible.

Smoke may be visible from Highway 20 and areas around Anahim Lake, Nimpo Lake, and Tatla Lake.

Burning is expected to begin October 1, 2021 and will continue periodically until December 15, 2021. It will occur only on days when site and weather conditions are favourable and will allow smoke to dissipate. These controlled burns will be conducted by ministry staff.
