The Quesnel Art Gallery  will be having a series of photographs portraying life on the land, rich in history of the Cariboo. Between April 8th to 29th you can go to the art gallery and see Nicole Johnston’s depiction of such a life.

4H Club Bottle Drive

Come and show your support for the farmers of the future. The 4H Club is having a bottle drive this Sunday at the Sani Dump. Covid plan is in effect and they are offering contactless drop off.

Next week is Earth Day! – April 22 – but  Baker Creek Enhancement Society  and the Nature Education & Resource Centre are celebrating Earth Day all week long!
They have put together a Backyard Earth Day package so you can get outside with your family and get up close and personal with the biodiversity in your own backyard by doing a backyard bioblitz and habitat clean up! CMHA of Northern BC

The Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC is excited to announce that they are now providing free boxes of fresh produce to those in need in Quesnel. This pilot program was made possible by a generous donation from our local West Fraser Mills and a partnership with Long Table Grocery, with the aim of filling gaps for those on low-income with specialized diets, those who are food insecure with limited access to fresh food sources, and those who are in need but hesitant to access food supports for the first time. The food boxes will consist mainly of fresh produce with the possibility of customization, delivery, and other options, dependent on the individual’s situation. Hike for Hospice

From May 3-9, 2021, complete an individual Run or Hike in your own time & pace at any destination of your choice while raising funds for the Quesnel & District Hospice Palliative Care Association. This event is an opportunity to come together virtually to raise money to help provide compassionate, quality care for people with life-limiting illness and grief support for our community. A Parent’s Guide to Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies across British Columbia have collaborated together to offer an exciting 50/50 Lotto. Tickets will be sold between April 5th – May 13th 2021. The Draw will take place on May 14th at 12 noon PST and up to $62, 500 will be up for Grabs! Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

The Quesnel & District Community Arts Council has teamed up with the Literacy Quesnel Society and Cariboo Regional District Library-Quesnel Branch to make the “9 to 5” singer’s Imagination Library available to tots under the age of five living in Quesnel or surrounding area. Each month registered kids will receive a book free of charge at their home from Parton’s gifting program after the Arts Council and Literacy Quesnel donated $10,000 to cover mailing costs. Parents can register their child by contacting the Quesnel & District Community Arts Council, Literacy Quesnel Society or CRD Library-Quesnel Branch.

Pickleball

If you are planning to play competitive pickleball the first league is starting shortly after the outdoor courts open. you will need to register with Pickleball Brackets (www.pickleballbrackets.com) and then make a request under the ‘Club’ heading to join the ‘Quesnel Pickleball Club’. If they haven’t been okayed for doubles play, consideration will be given to running the league as a ‘skinny singles’ league, at least in the beginning.
