Beautiful Mt. Timothy is not expected to open this year. After a series of setbacks including a drop in users, lightning striking the lift, theft of equipment and a late start last season. The purchase price for Mt Timothy is approximately $200,000 which is the dept owing. Michael Kidston, the president of the Mount Timothy Ski Society, told CBC News that “unless somebody wants to purchase  the assets for the dept owing and assume the operating agreement with crown lands and run the hill, it will not run this year”

So far no one has stepped up to buy the hill. Mt. Timothy Society has had financial difficulties for several years. Last season, the hill was down approximately $90,000 because of the late opening due to poor weather. It will be sad to see Mt. Timothy Ski Area close after its birth more than 30 years ago.

A Message from the MTSS Board Sept. 7th 2018

“Hello to all Skiers/Boarders/Society Members/Friends/Guests of Mt. Timothy,

We know everyone is starting to anticipate the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, after having been denied the opportunity to pose a referendum question regarding financial aid through Recreation Tax Funding the directors of MTSS have determined the only remaining option is to seek a buyer for the hill.

$200,000 will retire the outstanding debt and a new owner would take over all operating agreements with the Lands Branch.

As it stands right now, the hill will not be operating this season; therefore pre-sale season passes are not being offered.

If you feel this might be a business for you, please contact us via private message!

Thank you to everyone for your past support – let’s all pray for a miracle to save our local ski hill!”

Regards, MTSS Board
